The GOLD Air Handling Unit is celebrating its 30th anniversary. At the launch in 1994, it was an all-new concept that changed the industry standard. With its pioneering design and innovative features, the GOLD unit set a new benchmark for energy efficiency and performance. Three decades later, GOLD remains the cornerstone of Swegon’s proposition.
Today, GOLD continues to lead the way. With a focus on sustainability, we are committed to reducing the embodied carbon of our units while extending the lifespan of existing units already in the market.

Unmatched expertise – from components to controls
With more than 160,000 GOLD units installed on seven continents, we have gathered outstanding insights into the key criteria for excellent performance in air handling units.
We have chosen to develop and manufacture a number of key components for GOLD at our own plant, such as rotary heat exchangers, the patented GOLD Wing fans and our user-friendly controls for easy commissioning and monitoring. This allows us to adapt components to our air handling units and needs, and to optimise performance and operating efficiency. We are confident that our investments in in-house development, allows us to offer higher quality and performance to our customers.
How it all began

Back in 1994, GOLD was the first compact “standard” air handling unit on the market that was manufactured in mass production, with accessories mounted directly against the main unit. Also, the GOLD AHU was launched with one plug and play control system for all units, which was unique at the time when controls were typically customized for each unit. Today, GOLD is still by many considered the most user-friendly unit on the market.

At Swegon's impressive factory in Kvänum, innovation meets efficiency on a grand scale. Spanning an expansive area of 46,000 square meters, our highly automated facility boasts cutting-edge technology and a state-of-the-art test center. This advanced infrastructure enables us to ensure the highest quality standards in every product we deliver, providing our customers with unmatched reliability and trust. The Kvänum factory is the largest among Swegon's manufacturing facilities.
Sustainability as a mission
Today, sustainability defines Swegon’s mission to actively reduce CO2 and extend the life of existing products, and GOLD plays a significant role.​
RE:duce and RE:vitalise
We were first in our industry to publish environmental product declarations (EPDs) of air handling units and continuously work to lower the total CO2 footprint of our units. By replacing conventional steel with recycled steel in the production of GOLD, we reduce not only our own, but also our customers’ footprint. GOLD Refurb kits prolong the service life of units already in the field, by replacing selected components and installing new controls.

At the launch in 1994 there were 3 sizes and the airflow range was 360-3200 m³/h. Over the years the product development has been intense, adding many more sizes, additional heat exchanger types, advanced control functionality etc. Today there are billions of configuration possibilities!
Today, our product selection software AHU Design makes it is easy to dimension and configure the ideal product variant for the project at hand.
